Phetchaburi is one of Thailand's oldest cities and is known for the most famous palace is the Summer Palace of King Rama 5 on Khao Wang Hill which entire grounds consist of royal halls, palaces, temples and other buildings elegantly built in a balanced Thai, neoclassical Western and Chinese architectural style. The old palaces were converted into museums that displayed royal amenities used by King Rama IV and King Rama V. Wat Mahat Temple is a mixture of the late Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin styles with an adaptation of the ancient Khmer monastery.
